Molybdenum diilicide
This is an inorganic solid with the chemical name MoSi2, and it is gray. Molybdenum is disilicide, which is not soluble with most acids. However, it can be dissolved in nitric and hydrofluoric acids.
Molybdenum Disilicide exhibits good high-temperature resistance to oxidation, with an oxidation resisting temperature of up to 1600°C.
Molybdenum Disilicide is conductive. At high temperatures, it can form an insulating layer of silicon dioxide to stop further oxidation. MoSi2 can be used to heat in an oxidizing environment at high temperatures (1700degC).
